Another 'killer week'

This week has been pretty killer. Ernie is progressing really well and he did great in his baptismal interview. Elder Jung will baptize him on Saturday and then he'll get the Gift of the Holy Ghost on Sunday. Normally we'd do both on Sundays but conference is the week after and we didn't want him to wait two weeks. Eating dinner at Knudsen’s with Ernie was awesome! We had tacos with real cheese on them! We had a really good lesson afterwards too. The spirit is always so strong when we have lessons at their house! Too bad they're leaving this transfer. Another thing that was really good was (a talk) from sister Knudsen about Faith. She quoted from Elder Pearson that, "faith comes from God as a reward for righteous living," or something close to that. That makes a lot of sense and tells you what to do to get more faith! I need some cause we haven't been finding too many new investigators lately.
We had Zone Conference on Tuesday and it was sweet. We talked a lot about getting the "To the Rescue" program going in our wards for new and returning members. I guess they did it in the states last year and the number of baptisms (greatly increased) in the US.
Conference is a week later outside of English countries because they have to translate it.
In my study I just finished the Book of Mormon and started it again and I'm reading D+C too. I'm in section 18 right now. And yeah we are still getting up at 5:30 for study.
Oh and Wilson dropped because of his wife I think. Darn it.
Well, have a good week! I love you.

Elder L, Ee Sung Jeen, Ward Mission Leader, Elder Chung, Bishop?

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

We went bowling today with all the other missionaries in our zone and just got back. It was pretty fun. I got a 154! I'm kinda tired because we started waking up at 5:30 this week to get another hour of personal study. It's been really nice, but I'm not quite used to it yet. Our investigators are doing awesome. They (Ernie and Wilson) are both coming to church again this week and afterwards we're going to a baptismal service at another ward. Wilson brings his 5 year old son to church with him too! He went to primary last week and said he liked it. We haven't been able to meet (Wilson’s wife) yet, but we sent some cookies home with him to bribe her. Ha ha . Ee Sung Jeen passed the sacrament last Sunday with a white shirt and tie! It's been a good week. I started reading D+C this week and I’m in chapter 8. Hope you have a good week!

We have two really good investigators right now. One is Ernie and the other one is Wilson. That’s just their English names. Ernie has been to church twice. His family is Buddhist so it’s all new to him, but he seems to like church a lot. Wilson is a new guy that called us to learn English, but is really interested in our church too. He should be coming to church on Sunday! We meet him 3 times a week so we've already been able to teach him a lot. Ee Sung Jeen is doing awesome. We're meeting him tonight and we'll eat together then have a lesson back at the church. He got the gift of the Holy Ghost and the Aaronic Priesthood both last Sunday. Tonight we're going to talk about participating in the Sacrament on Sunday and also about missionary work! He's 24, but says he might go. Last Sunday at church it was ward conference and we had about twice the normal attendance there! A ton of less active (ward members) came out. We have such an awesome ward! They're really good at doing missionary work. Elder Chung is doing way good. He's really good with people and he's fun to work with.
We got to go to the temple this morning and the Temple president and President Burton both spoke to us before the session. It’s been a good day so far.
Thanks. TTYL

Ee Sung Jeen is Baptized!

Hey, I got the valentines package! It was way good. I got Lana's yesterday too so we've been eating well lately!
We had a good baptismal service on Sunday. Our ward mission leader, Beck Yong Sheer planned out the whole baptism service and Ee Sung Jeen asked him to baptize him. He sang a song with our bishop and the bishop’s wife that was really good. Elder Chung and I have been doing good. He's fun to work with and is pretty smart about missionary work. We've found a lot of new people this week that called us for English and from proselyting on the street. We couldn't get the last apartment because they didn't want LDS missionaries living there, but we found another one that we'll probably move into in about a month.
Thanks for the news. Have a good week!

Hey, I got a new companion today! His name is Elder Chung Daunnara and he's Korean! He's way cool and has only been serving for about 4 1/2 months. I'm excited to learn some Korean from him.
After we met up this morning we helped some sister missionaries move into their new house and then came home and unpacked and everything. We still haven't moved to our new apartment yet, maybe next p day we'll be able to.
(Our investigator) had his baptism interview on Tuesday and the zone leader said he's one of the best people he's ever interviewed. He told the Zone Leader during his interview that he was planning to not meet us anymore after we told him {about) the WOW because he felt really pressured about it. But, he said he thought about Elder Tenney and I and he decided he wanted to keep the WOW. I didn't know that til recently, but I prayed for him a lot after the WOW lesson and I felt like that helped him to make the right choice.
We have been getting a lot of calls from people who want to learn English lately, so hopefully we can find some good people from that. Thanks for the pics.
I love you.
