Hey, sorry last week the library shut off the internet before I could send my email. We found a new apartment that is a lot better than the one we're in now. The church is taking care of all the details, but we should be able to move pretty soon.
I've had a good couple of weeks. We met (our investigator)last Thursday. He said he'd come to church, but didn't answer his phone Friday or Saturday so we were pretty worried. We prayed for him a lot though and when I called him Sunday morning he was on his way to church. He told me he'd had a hard couple of days because of our lesson on Thursday (Word of Wisdom lesson). He had a good time at church though and Sunday night he texted us and said it was really good to see us. He's doing well now. Our ward was really good to him, especially our ward mission leader. The weather here is getting warmer lately. I don't have to wear my overcoat anymore. I've got down all 100 of the scripture masteries from the standard works! Thanks for the email every week. Elder Tenney has 14 people in his family, but only hears from his family every 3 or 4 weeks so I appreciate it. Have a good week! I love you!

Changes in the Korea Seoul West Mission

Message from President and Sister Burton-
Some of you have heard rumors flying about for some time that the Korea Seoul, and Korea Seoul West Missions were going to be combined. It is time to silence the rumors and speculation and let you know what it happening here.
At a Korea Seoul West Mission Conference held 5 February, 2010, it was announced that The First Presidency and The Quorum of The Twelve Apostles had determined that effective 1 July, 2010 to modify the boundaries of the Korea Seoul, Korea Seoul West, and Korea Daejeon Missions, and create 2 missions out of 3. The new Korea Seoul Mission will include all of the Korea Seoul West Mission excepting the Suwon Zone which will be added to the Korea Daejeon Mission. In an effort to simplify the addition of Suwon to the Daejeon Mission before President Perriton leaves 1 July, 2010, the Suwon Zone will join the Daejeon Mission on 5 March, 2010, and the 12 missionaries then serving in Suwon will be added to the missionary force of Daejeon.
When the dust settles on 1 July, the modified Korea Seoul Mission will have approximately 124-130 full-time missionaries, 9 Stakes and 1 District, and the Daejeon Mission will have about 78-86 missionaries, 5 stakes and 2 Districts.
The missionaries here are excited for the trust the brethren have shown in reducing the number of missionaries. We firmly believe that with both the quality of missionaries and the Korean members whose help is invaluable to this work, even more souls will be found, taught, and baptized.
We thank each of you for the legacy of faithful service you have given here in Korea. Your service, and your continued love for your investigators, converts and members is of greater strength to this work than you can really know. Thank you for staying in touch with those you served with, and for living lives that exemplify a disciple of Jesus Christ.
We love each and every one of you!
President and Sister Burton

Mission Conference-Elder Oaks

Historic Korea Seoul West Mission Photo

Hey! I am having a killer week.
Our best investigator, Ee Sung Jeen, is planning to be baptized on the 28th. He will have to quit going to a study group that he attends on Sunday in order to be able to go to sacrament meeting though. We explained how important the Sacrament was and he felt like he needed to go. He also came to listen to Elder Oaks with us last Sunday.
It was awesome! There were over a thousand people in the chapel where the conference was held. There were several speakers before Elder Oaks including his wife. When he spoke it really caught everyone’s attention, because his voice was deep and loud. He told us about an experience a couple nights before on the day of his arrival to Korea. He said his wife’s legs had been hurting from the plane ride and then that night they were hurting so bad that she woke up and was crying and asked him to give her a blessing. He kneeled and prayed to know what to say and then gave her a blessing and within a few minutes she had fallen asleep and was snoring! He also talked about marriage and some other things, but that was the most memorable. Ee Sung Jeen said, "His words touched my mind."
We've been finding a lot of new people through English class lately. We used to put up these little English fliers at bus stops and stuff, but the street cleaning people would rip them all down every day. Now we are putting up posters instead and taping them on so good that they're basically laminated to the pole or wall. So far the street cleaners haven't been able to rip them off and we are getting a lot of calls off of them!
We had a mission wide conference last Friday which doesn't happen very often, so we knew it was for something special. President told us that in July, when he and Sister Burton's mission is over, our mission will be combining with the Seoul mission. Also, in March, one zone from our mission will become part of the Daejeon mission and the missionaries who are currently serving there will be in the Daejeon mission. One of them is my MTC companion Elder Pearson. The reason is because they need more missionaries in the rest of the world in areas like India or Africa, where one mission is baptizing 1000 people per month! So because our missions will be decreasing in number, they need to combine them. We were all pretty surprised to hear that, but if they need more missionaries somewhere else than its fine with us. It kind of reminded me of Helaman in the Book of Mormon when he needs more soldiers and supplies, but he doesn't complain because he figured that Moroni was probably in need also, in a different part of the land. So he and his army just prayed and had faith that they could maintain their cities with the means that they had and everything worked out well for them.
Well have a good week! I love you,

Hey, things are going killer in Man Su. We met Ee Sung Jeen on the street about a week ago and he just seems really prepared. We asked him last time if he would be baptized if he came to know that our church was true and he was like, "Yeah, of course." Pak Young Gook…has come to church every week that we've been meeting him and our ward does really well with fellowshipping him. Yesterday, I went on splits with our Zone Leaders and it was really nice. I learned some good stuff on how to work with our members and we saw a lot of miracles in the Zone leader’s area. The weather is still pretty cold here, but things are going really good. The lease is up on our apartment and we have to find a new one so we are going to look at one today. Our members will help us to find it. Have a good week. I love ya!
