Changes in the Korea Seoul West Mission

Some of you have heard rumors flying about for some time that the Korea Seoul, and Korea Seoul West Missions were going to be combined. It is time to silence the rumors and speculation and let you know what it happening here.
At a Korea Seoul West Mission Conference held 5 February, 2010, it was announced that The First Presidency and The Quorum of The Twelve Apostles had determined that effective 1 July, 2010 to modify the boundaries of the Korea Seoul, Korea Seoul West, and Korea Daejeon Missions, and create 2 missions out of 3. The new Korea Seoul Mission will include all of the Korea Seoul West Mission excepting the Suwon Zone which will be added to the Korea Daejeon Mission. In an effort to simplify the addition of Suwon to the Daejeon Mission before President Perriton leaves 1 July, 2010, the Suwon Zone will join the Daejeon Mission on 5 March, 2010, and the 12 missionaries then serving in Suwon will be added to the missionary force of Daejeon.
When the dust settles on 1 July, the modified Korea Seoul Mission will have approximately 124-130 full-time missionaries, 9 Stakes and 1 District, and the Daejeon Mission will have about 78-86 missionaries, 5 stakes and 2 Districts.
The missionaries here are excited for the trust the brethren have shown in reducing the number of missionaries. We firmly believe that with both the quality of missionaries and the Korean members whose help is invaluable to this work, even more souls will be found, taught, and baptized.
We thank each of you for the legacy of faithful service you have given here in Korea. Your service, and your continued love for your investigators, converts and members is of greater strength to this work than you can really know. Thank you for staying in touch with those you served with, and for living lives that exemplify a disciple of Jesus Christ.
